Flourless Brownies

Flourless Brownies

Since the beginning of this pandemic, most people seem to have run out of flour from baking their fair share of banana bread. Because of this, I figured I would create something a little different; flourless brownies! This tasty treat is made of non-perishable goods that you’re likely to already have on hand.

These brownies are loaded with fiber, plant-protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals all thanks to the secret ingredient….BLACK BEANS! The best part is that they’re chewy and fudgy yet, free of gluten, dairy, refined grains and refined sugar! So, while brownies are most commonly enjoyed for dessert, feel no guilt for snacking on this batch any time of day. Is anyone keeping time anymore anyway?

Now, I understand that canned goods are extremely precious, doubling as weights for your at-home workouts. So, while this may seem like a predicament, I recommend baking them post-workout, as a protein-packed snack!

Aside from the flour shortage, I actually used beans as the base for these brownies because refined grains (such as white flour) lack fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. The less nutrients a food has, the less filling it will be. The less filling a food is, the more you will eat in order to compensate. Now, I know some people will turn away in skepticism but, don’t knock it ‘till you’ve tried it. Trust me, none of your five senses will detect beans in your brownies! Feed them to your families and have them guess the secret ingredient. I bet they won’t be able to.

Enjoy!
